There is a vast difference in the ideas of good and evil and right and wrong. We have both notions given to us in daily spoonfuls from the time we are old enough to move on our own.
Sometimes it is a matter of protection. “Don’t grab that fire.”
It can also be a matter of social protocol. “Don’t run out of the house without your clothes.”
The hardest one to quantify is the matter of beliefs. “Thou shalt not covet.” “Think of others before yourself.” “Never give in to a bad situation, you will reap the rewards for it in the next life.”
So many different beliefs exist it would be impossible to follow all of them.
A simple thought experiment. Is it right or wrong to kill someone?
Is it good or evil to kill someone to keep another from being tortured for years before they are killed if you do not act?
What is right may not always seem good, what is good may never be the right thing to do.
There is mud in the water no one wants to tell you about. The gray area most humans are forced to live.
In this world, do the best you can to do what is the honorable thing. Honor is all we really have that is cut and dry. Honor may lead you to do the evil thing for the right reason. It will much more often lead you to wearing a pleasant smile and knowing where your place in this world exists, and where it does not.
Those that strike out against an honorable man/woman, are self-interested. Since you can only truly control what you do, let them live in the mud pits they make for themselves.
